The Idaho Leadership Education and Development Series is the University of Idaho’s newest and most comprehensive leadership program. Idaho LEADS seeks to educate and develop University of Idaho students through an extensive program of interactive workshops and leadership activities that will challenge students to go beyond the classroom to develop a broad vision of their role on their campus and in their communities.
The Idaho LEADS Program is free and open to all students!

Getting Started - Levels of Participation
Idaho Leadership Certificate
- Choose the Idaho LEADS Workshops that interest you and register online to attend
- Complete a Personal Action Plan and meet with a staff member in the office of Student Activities, Leadership Volunteer Programs.
- Attend sixteen (16) Idaho LEADS Workshops in a maximum of four (4) semesters.
- Participate in a Service Experience through the ASUI Center for Volunteerism and Social Action.
- Participate in an approved Leadership Experience.
- Participate in a GAP Group for one semester and obtain verification of participation from your GAP Group facilitator.
- Complete the Idaho LEADS Leadership Portfolio and write a Personal Reflection Paper on your experiences.
- Turn in your completed Activity Verification Form, Leadership Portfolio and Reflection Paper to the Student Activities, Leadership & Volunteer Programs Office.
Skills Certificate
- Choose the Idaho LEADS Workshops that interest you and register online to attend at www.studentactivities.uidaho.edu/LEADSworkshops
- Attend eight (8) Idaho LEADS Workshops within two (2) semesters.
- Turn in your completed Activity Verification Form to the Student Activities, Leadership & Volunteer Programs Office (Commons 302).
Upon verification of all criteria, the Idaho Leadership Certificate will be presented at the annual ASUI Student Achievement Awards Ceremony while the Skills Certificate will be awarded directly from the Student Activities, Leadership & Volunteer Programs Office.

Student Outcomes
- Students will be familiar with leadership and personal development opportunities available at the University of Idaho.
- Students will be exposed to leadership and personal development as it relates to broader concepts of ethics, diversity, and civic involvement.
- Students will self-direct in leadership and service, integrating workshop-based and experiential learning.
- Students will refine personal direction, purpose, and values through a series of reflection activities.
